Founded by Dr. Asif Qadri on June 15, 2003, the Muslim Community Center Medical Clinic's (MCC Clinic's) mission is to provide free, high-quality medical care to uninsured, low-income adult residents of Maryland. The MCC Clinic began operating with a monetary donation from a volunteer physician and and an in-kind donation of office space donated by the Muslim Community Center of Silver Spring, MD. In a one-room facility in the basement of the community center, MCC Clinic began by providing free emergency care, one day a week, for adults without health coverage. With the continued dedication of the original physicians, and the added enthusiasm and energy of newer volunteers, the Clinic has dramatically increased its ability to deliver health care services to the uninsured. 28 volunteer board certified physicians provided care to 1684 patients over 4686 visits in one year alone. MCC Clinic is also truly privileged to rely upon an exemplary corps of more than 75 other volunteers who handle the Clinic's administrative tasks, conduct community outreach, coordinate public relations and fundraising. MCC Clinic's expansion was also made possible by generous financial and technical support from the Primary Care Coalition, an agency funded by the Montgomery County Government to provide care to 80,000 uninsured, low-income residents of Montgomery County. |
